“Creating inspiring narratives for our children is so important in their social and emotional development. Our daughters especially need role models who look like them. They need stories of strong women who share their culture, their background, their family traditions. Grandes Dreamers is a gift to all of our children – a celebration of strength, courage, wisdom and culture. In our Los Angeles community, half of our children have at least one parent born in a different country. Their stories are all of our stories. Every profile in Grandes Dreamers inspires us and our children to make our world a better place.”

“I absolutely love how Argelia Atilano and Anna Alvarado came up with the idea for this book. Nothing like a mother’s perspective to come up with a solution that meets a need in our society. Well done! What a great book. This is a wonderful and much needed project. It makes me so happy to know that Grandes Dreamers will be in schools, readily available for students. I love the idea behind the project, the content and the illustrations. The fact that it is a bilingual book filled with inspirational and empowering Latinas fills me with so much joy and hope for the future. Future generations will be able to find in this book a person that looks like them, who contributed greatly to our history, and who makes them feel proud of being Latinas. I can say this is one of those books, I will surely have in my future grandchildren’s bookshelves and mine."

Andrea Gonzalez, TV Anchor, KMEX-Univision Los Angeles
